Project Brief:

In March 2021, an opportunity came up while I was working with Studio 79e where a media company called Narcity Canada, one of our clients from the previous year, reached out and asked us if we’d be interested in taking on a last minute project. We informed this client that we had our hands full and we respectfully declined.

The next day, the client reached out again and insisted we have a look at the project brief. We took a look and immediately acknowledged that this project would be the biggest one we would have worked on to date, with the largest budget, and the smallest turnaround time, which was just over two weeks. It was a collaboration between Narcity Canada and Bacardi where they wanted to create a series of videos that were hosted by bartenders from Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto. They were working with a well respected production company that bailed out at the last minute. A project of this magnitude we would have completed comfortably in just over a month, but the turnaround time for this project was less than half that time. It was an opportunity that we just couldn't turn down. We hopped on a conference call with the client, finalized the details, and began storyboarding, casting, and scheduling.

We still had all of our other clients in the pipeline and had their deliverables to meet. My team and I devised a plan asking ourselves, how can we meet these deadlines and take on this massive project at the same time? We needed more people on the team. I began to connect with freelancers that could help out with this new project and hired four people on a temporary contract, shared the project details, assigned them their tasks, and scheduled everyone accordingly. Meanwhile, I was discussing with our current team how we could still finish our other client’s work and continue working on the Narcity project. At the beginning of the conversation, our team expressed that they were not happy with the extra workload and I empathized with them. I shared with them that our team was strong enough to take on this project, that I believed in them, and that if we could pull this off, we would look back and could truly tell ourselves that we could compete with the larger production companies in Ottawa, a vision and a goal we all shared and aligned with. We rallied together and agreed that we could do this! After we were all on the same page and everyone shared each other's enthusiasm, we got to work.

After delegating the tasks accordingly, working with everyone’s schedule respectfully, we managed to deliver the Narcity project on time as well as meet every other deliverable for our other clients that month. Looking back at that month now, it wouldn’t have been possible to complete the workload without our entire team and the contracts aligning with the vision to compete with the largest production companies in the city by producing a new content series with a North American-wide media company. After the projects were finished, I realigned with the team and shared my gratitude for their extra efforts and shared how incredibly proud I was of what we were able to accomplish. Our team grew exponentially within that time from the experience and we proceeded forward with the confidence that we were capable of competing with the best of the best.

Project Brief:

In March 2020, gyms and fitness studios were forced to close due to the pandemic. I was working with Studio 79e and Greco Fitness for the previous 6 months and was familiar with Greco’s brand, company culture and the experience they looked to provide their members. Greco’s leadership quickly devised a plan to offer their members a virtual fitness experience by creating workout classes filmed and hosted by their trainers, calling this new digital initiative Greco Method At Home.

We worked with leadership and the trainers to produce and distribute 12 45-minute videos per week for 5 months where members could still follow the Greco ideology and training methods from the comfort of their own homes.

* Full videos cannot be shared due to agreement with client
